Chongqing launches activity to promote rational diet

An online launch ceremony for a week-long activity in Southwest China's Chongqing to promote a healthy diet was held on May 17, according to local officials.

With the aim of publicizing science knowledge related to healthy dietary nutrition in residents, the activity was sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission.

According to local officials, amid the novel coronavirus outbreak during this year's activity a number of organizations and institutions launched an initiative to encourage separate dining, advocating utilization of serving chopsticks. They did this while extensively carrying out various types of publicity, popularization and consulting activities on dietary nutrition.

At the main launch ceremony, local authorities issued an initiative on a healthy diet with balanced nutrition. Officials said a volunteer team for publicizing knowledge about a healthy diet was formed.

At the same time, on the day of the event launch, five branch venues carried out dietary nutrition and health knowledge activities in communities, villages, schools, supermarkets, restaurants and other places.

According to officials, the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission will carry out a series of publicity activities in various forms.

These will mainly be online activities, supplemented by offline activities, to mobilize residents to participate widely, further create a good atmosphere for everyone to advocate a healthy diet and comprehensively promote the improvement of people's habits for keeping a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle.

The public activities will be staged in cooperation with other co-organizers and follow COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures.
