Chongqing experts pool experience with Ukrainians, Armenians

A panel of eight medical experts in Southwest China's Chongqing held two video conferences with their opposite numbers in Ukraine and Armenia on March 24, sharing their experience in novel coronavirus prevention and treatment, according to local officials.

In the two video conferences -- held successively -- the Chongqing experts answered questions raised by the medical workers of the two countries one by one and shared their experiences in fighting the outbreak without reservation, as part of the Chinese municipality's commitment to in helping other countries fight outbreak.

In the video link with the Ukrainian prime minister and medical experts, Li Pan, director of the disease control department of the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission, gave a detailed briefing on the working methods of Chongqing's medics. He reminded Ukraine that during the treatment of patients, in order to prevent cross-infection, all medics should rest in a place designated by the hospital.

Chongqing's medical experts went into detail about the protection measures for medical staff and precautions in the treatment and medication for mild and severe COVID-19 cases. Owing to a shortage of time, Ukraine indicated that there were still many areas that had not been covered and its experts proposed further communications with the Chongqing experts offline.

After the end of the meeting with Ukraine, the Chongqing experts went straight into a video conference with Armenia. Zhou Lin, deputy director of the Municipal Health Commission, outlined the main measures for epidemic prevention and control taken by Chongqing, hoping to help Armenia with its epidemic prevention and control.

After sharing the measures, the two sides then went into targeted communications.

During the video link, the psychological impact from the rising COVID-19 cases was raised by Armenia. The Chinese experts also detailed their use of psychological expertise to intervene.

In addition, Chongqing's medical experts also shared with the Armenian medics their different treatment methods for patients with different symptoms and patients with different underlying diseases.

According to local media reports, in the wake of the video exchanges with Ukraine and Armenia, Chongqing will schedule a conference to help fight the epidemic according to the needs of Belarus.
