After nearly five years of construction, the first phase of the Liangjiang New Hospital of the Chongqing Hospital of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was opened for trial operations on Dec 29.

The hospital, also known as the Chongqing People's Hospital, will be put into formal operation in March to provide comprehensive high-quality medical and health services to the public. 

As a key construction project in Chongqing, the Liangjiang New Hospital covers 57 hectares and has 1,480 beds. 

The first phase of the project covers a construction area of 167,000 square meters, and includes a medical complex, a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, a general practitioner's clinical training base, and an underground garage. 

At the opening ceremony, the National Research Center for Clinical Medicine of Neurological Diseases signed a framework agreement for medical cooperation with Chongqing Research Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, and Chongqing People's Hospital. 

The cooperation is expected to lay a solid foundation for the hospital to build a national medical center integrating medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research, further promoting the healthy development of medical treatment in Chongqing. 

According to officials, the Liangjiang New Hospital has advanced technologies and will offer comprehensive services to patients. 

Chongqing People's Hospital was approved by the Chongqing People's Government in 2014 and officially established in 2016 as an important step to integrate public hospital resources in the city. 

The hospital has made great efforts in medical talent development throughout the years, and successfully introduced the team of Han Demin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Professor Wang Jian'an, a well-known cardiovascular disease expert, to set up a workstation in the hospital. 

Six outstanding medical teams from across the country have decided to settle in the Liangjiang New Hospital.
