Located in Yuzhong district, Daping Hospital is the army's only medical and health institution which is the result of a comprehensive 3A hospital and a research institute. Founded in 1951, the hospital was formerly known as the first outpatient department of the Southwest Military Area Command.

The hospital covers an area of more than 200,000 square meters, and has 2,628 available beds. It has won over 150 prizes above provincial and ministerial-level, including the first prize of the State Science and Technology Advancement Award and the second prize of the State Natural Science Award.

The hospital ranked 79th in the 2016 "China's Hospital Rankings (Comprehensive)" issued by the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University, and 32nd in the 2017 China's hospital science and technology power rankings.

It was awarded the National Public Hospital Service Innovation Award and the Reform and Innovation Award of the Ministry of Health.
