Founded in 1941, the People's Hospital of Rongchang District has been built into a comprehensive 2A hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention and health care. The existing land area is 62.14 mu. Its headquarters covers 28.2 mu and 33.94 acres of the southern new district branch. The total construction area is 74,691.39 square meters.

The hospital is designed to have 1,041 beds. The number of registered beds is 800, and the number of available ones is 1,028. The new hospital has a construction land of 75 mu and a building area of 170,000 square meters, and 459 new hospital beds are added.

The hospital is a "baby-friendly hospital" named by the Ministry of Health, a standardized training base for resident physicians and general practitioners in Chongqing, a member of the Southwest Health Management Association, the technical guidance hospital of the first hospital affiliated to Chongqing Medical University, the second hospital affiliated to Chongqing Medical University and the children's hospital of Chongqing Medical University, and the teaching and practice hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing Medical and Pharmaceutical College and Neijiang Medical School.

The hospital promotes the establishment of a 3A hospital, enhances the comprehensive ability, and accelerates its efforts to build a "smart hospital". The new branch of more than 75 mu facing the existing site is under construction. It will promote talent introduction and discipline construction, make more academic achievements, promote the coordinated development of medical treatment, teaching and research, and provide more new technology projects and better services.
