Report on notifiable diseases in January 2019

In January 2019, the number of cases of notifiable diseases reported in the Chinese mainland was 1,143,574, with 1,901 deaths.
Category A infectious diseases had no cases.
Category B infectious diseases, excluding severe acute respiratory syndrome, highly pathogenic avian influenza, H7N9 avian influenza, diphtheria, and poliomyelitis, had 298,910 cases with 1,756 deaths.
The five infectious diseases in category B with the largest number of cases were viral hepatitis, phthisis, syphilis, gonorrhea, and scarlatina. They accounted for 95 percent of all cases in category B.
Category C infectious diseases, excluding filariasis, had 844,664 cases with 145 deaths.
The first three Category C infectious diseases in terms of the number of cases were influenza, infectious diarrhea, and hand-foot-and-mouth disease, which accounted for 97 percent of all category C cases.
