Production lines at Jezetek Co's workshop in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area are rolling out motor controller systems incorporating Sichuan technology.
These components, crucial to "Made in Chongqing" new energy vehicles, are set to reach global markets, with Cao Kunpeng, a Jezetek representative, saying, "The thriving new energy vehicle industry in Chongqing presents us with boundless opportunities."
This scenario exemplifies the growing collaboration between Sichuan province and Chongqing in the automotive sector.
Intelligent connected new energy vehicles are a shared industrial strength for both regions. Statistics indicate that one out of every nine cars in China originates from Sichuan and Chongqing, with over 20 percent of the country's power batteries being "Sichuan-Chongqing made".
The region's combined vehicle production reached 3.43 million units by 2024, including 1.09 million new energy vehicles, making it China's third-largest automotive cluster.
This industrial synergy is fueled by close cooperation among upstream and downstream enterprises. A prime example is Changan Automobile, a leading manufacturer in Liangjiang, which sources from 50 Sichuan-based suppliers, a collaboration that has fostered growth, supported 683 regional partners, and created over 120,000 jobs.
Innovation and joint technological efforts are also thriving, with Chongqing Phoenix Auto Intelligence and Zling Smart (Chengdu) Technology Co having developed an advanced intelligent cockpit interaction platform, highlighting coordinated innovation in core technologies.
The sharing of resources across the region, such as computational support from the National Supercomputing Center in Chengdu, is propelling the Chengdu-Chongqing automotive sector towards becoming a world-class industrial cluster.
