The Chengdu-Chongqing Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Cross-Border Trading Center recently began operating in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality.
A business promotion meeting for the new center was held on April 20, organized by the administrative committee of the Chongqing Lianglu Cuntan Bonded Zone.
At the event, the Chongqing government granted the center the titles of export base for Chongqing-made products, and Chongqing cross-border e-commerce demonstration zone.
Located in the Lianglu Cuntan International Business Center, the new center has a total construction area of about 53,000 square meters. It features a business display hall, a business recreational area, an industrial achievement exhibition area, a multi-media roadshow hall, and an exhibition area for exports made in Chongqing.
In the next three years, the center will establish a special fund for the development of cross-border trading. It will also introduce 50 cross-border e-commerce operators; achieve more than 10 billion yuan (1.46 billion) in total trading volume; cultivate 1,500 talents for the industry; and help 15 traditional manufacturers and foreign enterprises to further develop their own brands to go global.
At the business promotion meeting, 12 enterprises signed cooperative contracts with the center, agreeing to move in. Eight universities also inked partnership agreements with the center.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
