The first business meeting between the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and the Chongqing government was held in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on March 1.
Senior leaders from the Chongqing and Liangjiang governments, the Italian Consulate General in Chongqing, and the CICC participated in this event.
Guido Bilancini, Italian consul general in Chongqing, expressed his gratitude for Chongqing and Liangjiang's strong support in promoting the Sino-Italy exchanges and cooperation. Bilanciini went on to highlight the remarkable results achieved in previous joint investment and business projects.
Paolo Bazzoni, president of the CICC, said that in recent years, members of the chamber have been expanding their business scales in the Southwest China, and have given weight to their development in the Chengdu-Chongqing region. Bazzoni hoped that the Chongqing and Liangjiang governments will launch more in-depth collaboration programs with Italian enterprises.
According to a speech made by an official from the Liangjiang government, Liangjiang New Area will focus on modern industries and work with Italian companies in automobile design and industrial design. The area will also organize more economic and trade match-making activities for potential Italian business partners, and strive to attract more top Italian universities and high-end research institutes to settle there.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
