Liu Zuoheng, senior business manager of the Chongqing SUNSHINE Trading Co, which is based in Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, has been dealing with the foreign trade for years.
"Although in recent years we were affected by the pandemic, our sales volumes continue to rise. This year, we will further increase our market share in South America, while stabilizing our Southeastern market," said Liu.
Last year, the company reported 2.2 billion yuan in foreign trade, and its products have also reached Europe and ASEAN regions.
The new area recently held a work symposium with the Lianglu Cuntan customs department to roll out measures to stabilize foreign trade in 2023.
According to the meeting, many local enterprises, such as Changan Ford, have been planning to expand their overseas market layouts. Last year, Changan Ford exported over 13,000 cars to the Middle East market. Meanwhile, its core components, including engines and transmissions, were also sold in the Europe and America.
In 2023, Liangjiang will assist its comprehensive bonded zone in gaining new orders. It will also help in processing trade, further completing its economic and trade cooperation system with ASEAN countries, and cultivating new economic growth points.
The new area reported a total of 306.2 billion yuan ($44.67 billion) in foreign trade volume, up 6 percent year-on-year, and accounting for 37.5 percent of Chongqing's total.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
