The world's first nanometal process database was recently launched in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, according to local news reports on Dec 17.

The database supports material science research, craftsmanship research, and industrial applications. A large amount of data in the metallic material field has been collected, while the lack of a sharing mechanism strong material big data technologies, and professional databases have become bottlenecks handicapping the research of metallic materials.

The nanometal process database will be constructed by the Chongqing Nanometal Research Institute in Liangjiang New Area, and it will be able to collect, classify, analyze, store and search for nanometal process data, which will reduce enterprises' R&D costs, boost research efficiency, and accelerate technology transfers.
