Two fixed-wing aircrafts took off at Chongqing Longxing Airport in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, on Nov 1, marking the start of regular operations for fixed-wing aircrafts in the downtown area of the municipality.
Meanwhile, two airlines moved into the airport and will join efforts in flight services and service extension, as well as contribute to Liangjiang's low-altitude aerospace economy.
The regular operation of fixed-wing aircrafts will also offer some extra services to locals, bringing fantastic driving and travel experience to citizens in the central urban area of Chongqing.
General aviation in recent years has become a strategic emerging industry that is significant in promoting industrial transformation and cultivating new economic growth engines. Liangjiang's software and hardware supporting facilities, such as Chongqing Longxing Airport, Longxing Flight Service Station, and Chongqing Liangjiang Airport Management Co, will provide a conducive operation environment for the development of general aviation.
Chongqing Longxing Airport is one of the four airports in Chongqing and the only one in Chongqing's central urban area to be selected as an air emergency rescue base.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
