Wang Jumeng, president of Chongqing Yuelai Investment Group Co, delivered a speech at the China Manufacturing Design Conference and Yuelai International Design Forum on July 28 in Liangjiang New Area. The speech was themed on the Chongqing Design Park.
In December 2020, the Chongqing government unveiled the Chongqing Design Park in Yuelai International Exhibition City. Since then, the exhibition city has been developing its "industrial design + industrial chain" model. By 2025, the park is expected to become an industrial design capital, and by 2030, it is expected to generate revenue of more than 100 billion yuan ($14.78 billion) and be home to a number of national and municipal design centers.
The park features three operational systems – design platforms, industrial ecosystems, and park services – and focuses on design innovation incubation, design talent training, design demonstration and publicity, design deals and living services. The park's industrial design businesses are further subdivided into designs for automobiles, smart hardware, medical equipment, everyday aesthetics, environment, animation, AI, and 3D-printing.
The park also has strong transportation infrastructure, offering air, water and land transportation, which will accelerate the inflow of information, talent, capital and technologies.
The park will reportedly accommodate 200 design companies.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
