During a signing ceremony for a municipal campaign to introduce scientific, technological, and innovative resources, the Chongqing Liangjiang Coordinative Zone signed strategic cooperation contracts with 19 top universities and more than 50 Chongqing-based colleges, research institutes, and enterprises.
Automobiles, robots, AI, intelligent equipment, new materials, biological medicine, and ecology are the main focuses of these universities, and Chongqing's strength in auto manufacturing, electronics, high-end equipment, and other strategic emerging areas appear to be attractive to the universities. Their future collaboration with the coordinative zone will accelerate the technology transfer process and further enrich their reserves of scientific knowledge, personnel, and technology.
An official from the Chongqing Research Institute of HIT said that their decision to establish partnerships with five local companies were made after their cautious deliberation of what these firms really need and what they can really offer, in order to match "demand" with "supply" and give full play to the institute’s strong disciplines, talent, and scientific research.
The Chongqing Liangjiang Coordinative Zone will prioritize the transfer and application of technology, enhance its industrial development with cutting-edge technology, and strive to become a hub of technological and industrial innovation.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
