The third Upper Yangtze River City Flower Art Expo kicked off on Oct 20 at the Chongqing Garden Expo in Liangjiang New Area – in Southwest China's municipality of Chongqing – and runs to Oct 29.

The expo area occupies 480,000 square meters and showcases the green development achievements of cities in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

It is exhibiting the latest varieties of flowers from across the world. The event has invited nearby Southwest China's Sichuan province to be guest of honor, to showcase the environmental protection and industrial development of Chongqing, as well as that in Sichuan's capital city of Chengdu.

The expo has collected classic gardens and landscapes of cities from 21 countries and comes equipped with dining and accommodation facilities, to allow visitors enjoy their time at the expo.

From opening day, the open-air theater at the expo began staging performances such as a folk music concert and traditional music concerts over three days.

From Oct 20 to 29, the expo will present fashion shows, concerts, dance performances, carnivals, lectures and other cultural activities to visitors.

The expo's official WeChat small program was also launched on opening day. In addition to reservations, guidance and traffic information, the program allows users to visit the expo online through livestreaming, videos, photos and texts.

After collecting a free digital ticket at the program, visitors can scan their identity cards or enter the expo through face recognition. Each identity card can reserve one ticket only, but can reserve another ticket after the previous ticket is used.
