Liangjiang New Area (LNA), as the first state level inland new area in the southwest of China, has cultivated five major open platforms since its establishment four years ago. A series of important initiatives in free trade, investment and other areas will be taken in Liangjiang New Area in 2014.
Tang Zongwei, deputy director of the Liangjiang administrative committee and an NPC deputy from Chongqing, briefed the media on June 13 about the development of Liangjiang New Area . Specifically, Tang introduced Liangjiang New Area's prospects on developing an inland open economy and constructing five open platforms.
Firstly, the Industrial park platform in Liangjiang New Area – which is constructed in accordance with the morphology of "research and development park + manufacturing park + Home +logistics park + ecological park" – has been finished.
Secondly, the financial platform in Liangjiang New Area is progressing. 35 high financial buildings, covering an area of about 2.1 million square meters, are expected to be built by the end of 2014.
Thirdly, the International Exhibition Center, which covers an area of 400 thousand square meters with its 16 national standard Exhibition Halls , is being put into operation and the exhibition platform function has started to be utilized.
Fourthly, the bonded logistics platform is increasing and Guoyuan port has been built and is being put into operation – soon to become an open port.
Five, the prototype information platform is initially taking shape and 40 thousand servers have been built in the cloud computing centers. 100 thousand servers are under construction and 93 thousand servers will start construction in the new year.
Under the lead of China's national strategy of the Yangtze River economic belt construction, Liangjiang New Area will become an open window in inland China.
Tang said that Liangjiang New Area will expand its free trade platform and more than 50 thousand square meters of import commodity exhibition center will be formed in October. Meanwhile, the New Area will promote linkage to the development of bonded exhibition and cross-border e-commerce areas. Liangjiang New Area is well on its way to making its full-year free trade quota target of two billion dollars.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
