The Discipline Innovation and Development Forum was held on April 19 at the Ranjiaba branch of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, in Southwest China's Chongqing.

A total of 150 people, including Wang Jian, secretary of the Party committee of the CQHCWC, Qi Hongbo, president of the center, and representatives from various departments, attended the forum, with Qi presiding over the meeting.

Gao Jiechun, director of the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University, was invited to give a lecture during the event.

Relying on his long-term practical experience in hospital management, Gao analyzed the new changes, new characteristics and new methods of high-quality development of public hospitals, focusing on high-quality development of public hospitals, changes to the service system, and discipline construction and evaluation emphasis.

He put forward innovative ideas and measures for the future discipline development of the center and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of its discipline construction, suggesting strengthening the construction of scientific research platforms, establishing the specialist PI (principal investigator) system, and improving normal discipline evaluation work.

At the end of the lecture, Gao also exchanged ideas with participants on such issues as discipline construction, brand building, and management systems, giving valuable advice on discipline construction and development for the center.

Professor Huang Guoning, director of CQHCWC's Reproductive Medicine Center, also shared his experience in the reproductive medicine discipline development process, direction, and methods, focusing on topics such as center development, clinical technology, platform construction, personnel training, and academic promotion.

The Reproductive Medicine Center of the CQHCWC ranked seventh among Chinese hospitals in terms of reproductive medicine from 2017 to 2021, according to a list compiled by the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University.

Addressing the forum, Qi said that all clinical departments should analyze existing problems and disadvantages, and have a clear development direction, while administrative departments should lay out new ideas for discipline construction and strengthen discipline innovation so as to promote the high-quality development of the center.
