Chen Gongli, director of the Third Department of Obstetrics (Fetal Medicine Center) of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, in Southwest China's Chongqing, was invited to attend the 40th Annual International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society (IFMSS) Meeting, which took place in Mexico.

He also delivered a speech on Sequential Management of Congenital High Air Way Obstruction Syndrome, showing the CQHCWC's achievements in fetal surgery and its concept of "integrated diagnosis and treatment of abnormal fetal development" in perinatal surgery, which was highly recognized by experts and scholars.

This is the second time that Chen has been invited to give a keynote speech at the IFMSS conference since 2020.

Founded in 1983, the IFMSS is the most influential conference in the fetal surgery field, bringing together scholars and experts to discuss their clinical research results in fetal surgery every year. It is considered as a meeting that embraces openness, communication and innovation.

This year's meeting covered academic topics such as fetal surgical diagnosis and treatment, education, innovation and development, and cooperation. More than 100 representatives in the obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric surgery, and genetics sectors from all over the world attended.

Committed to the clinical research and development of fetal surgery, the Fetal Medicine Center of the CQHCWC puts forward the "full-process integrated diagnosis and treatment model for abnormal fetal development". It carries out a full range of fetal surgeries, and is listed among the most comprehensive fetal medicine centers in the country that are able to handle the most difficult fetal surgeries.

Chen led his team to successfully carry out Asia's first case of fetoscopic upper airway obstruction incision and recanalization to treat upper airway obstruction syndrome. He and his team also successfully carried out the first domestic case of fetal tracheal closure to treat a severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and the first case of fetal cardiac interventional surgery to treat severe pulmonary artery stenosis in West China.

Moving forward, the CQHCWC will further participate in international exchanges, enhance its scientific and technological innovation capabilities, and promote high-quality development to become a modern international specialized hospital for women and children.
