Medical staffers of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children meet with a delegation of students from the Sierra Leonen maternal and child health technology training class on October 31, 2019. 

A delegation of students from the Sierra Leonean maternal and child health technology training class visited the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children on October 31, 2019.

The event was intended to help Sierra Leone improve the management level of maternal and child health care and strengthen exchanges and cooperation between China and Sierra Leone in health care.

Zhang Hua, president of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children, expressed his warm welcome to the delegation, and briefly introduced the hospital and its featured departments.

Margaret Sia Schenks, head of the Sierra Leonean training class delegation, expressed the delegation's sincere gratitude for China's aid projects to Africa and the hospitality of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children.

The delegation visited the gynaecology, obstetrics, and ultrasound departments. Medical staff of the two countries exchanged views on health, medical management as well as diagnosis and treatment. The delegation members said they looked forward to further opportunity to increase exchanges.

Africa is an important participant in China's Belt and Road Initiative, while Chongqing, thanks to its geographic location, is of great significance in promoting BRI-related efforts.

Over the years visits and exchanges have enhanced China-Africa friendship and helped promote development of the health of women and children in China and Africa.

The visit of the Sierra Leonean delegation was entrusted by the Sichuan Provincial Health and Health Commission and the Chongqing Municipal Health and Health Commission.
