Introduction of Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children
The Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Chongqing Maternity Hospital, Chongqing Institute of Reproductive and Genetic) was set up in 1944 as a Tertiary class A maternal and child care center integrating clinical medicine, maternal and child health care and scientific research teaching. As of the end of December 2018, there were 1,499 employees in the hospital, including 1,112 health professionals and technicians, 103 employees with senior professional titles, 25 doctors, 1 expert receiving a special allowance from the State Council, 1 winner of the Bethune Medal, 1 chief medical expert of Chongqing and 2 middle-aged and young medical high-end reserve talents of Chongqing. In 2018, it served 16.45 million outpatients.
The hospital has two areas: the Ranjiaba hospital area and the Qixinggang hospital area.
The Ranjiaba hospital area, with 900 beds, is located at No.120 Longshan Road of Yubei district, covers more than 100,000 square meters. It opened on December 28, 2016 with departments of Maternal and Obstetric Health, Women's Health, Child Health and Family Planning. Its assets include a clinical department of obstetrics, a general gynecological ward, a center for diagnosis and treatment of cervical diseases, a department of severe medicine, and a department of women's health care.
The Qixinggang hospital area, at No.64 Jintang street in Yuzhong district, covers more than 20,000 square meters and has 100 beds. It focuses on human assisted reproductive technology. On April 10, 1997, the first tube baby of Western China was born there. It was the first human-assisted reproductive center approved by the former Ministry of Health and is one of the eleven human-assisted reproductive technology training bases in the country.
