On December 10, the 2025 International Seminar on Global Poverty Reduction Partnerships was held in Beijing, where the results of the 6th Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices were announced.
CNNC's initiative, "Education Empowerment and Collaborative Community Development: China National Nuclear Corporation's Rössing Uranium Mine Poverty Alleviation Practice in Namibia", was selected as a Best Global Poverty Reduction Case among 840 submissions from 40 countries and regions. This is the second time a CNNC project has been recognized and the first time its overseas corporate social responsibility practices have been acknowledged, highlighting CNNC's contributions in Belt and Road partner countries.
Since acquiring the Rössing Uranium Mine in 2019, CNNC has contributed over 4% to Namibia's GDP, directly creating over 2,000 jobs and supporting employment for more than 10,000 people through local procurement and supply-chain cooperation, thus becoming a crucial pillar for local economic development. Through the Rössing Foundation, CNNC has delivered tangible poverty alleviation outcomes for local communities.

Education empowerment
CNNC has improved local basic education by building modern classrooms in remote areas, providing multimedia teaching equipment, establishing scholarships for disadvantaged students, and recognizing outstanding teachers. In vocational and digital education, it has supplied training tools and scientific equipment, set up mobile science laboratories, and equipped special schools with assistive technologies to promote digital and equitable education.

Employment and income growth
With a focus on women and youth, CNNC Rössing Uranium has promoted digital agricultural tools, entrepreneurship training, and market access. In 2023, local procurement reached 1.15 billion yuan ($163.3 million), strengthening the local supply chain and indirectly creating more than 3,000 jobs, helping local families achieve financial independence.

Community development
CNNC has consistently hosted the Rössing Marathon, sponsored the Swakopmund Mayoral Cup, and provided long-term support to the Namibia Special Olympics, offering sports equipment and training for children with disabilities. In infrastructure, the company has partnered with local governments to install solar-powered water wells in remote villages and funded the construction of the DRC Police Station in Swakopmund, improving access to water and enhancing public safety.
Looking ahead, CNNC will continue advancing the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen poverty alleviation cooperation with Namibia and other partner countries, and leverage its industrial, resource, and technological strengths to explore sustainable and replicable models for global poverty reduction.
