China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) is a centrally managed state-owned enterprise approved by the State Council, and serves as a key player in the national nuclear science and technology industry.
It is responsible for promoting the development and utilization of nuclear energy, nuclear engineering construction, and the application of nuclear technology.
As of the end of 2023, CNNC's total assets reached approximately 1.3 trillion yuan, with about 180,000 employees. It boasts 14 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
For 18 consecutive years, it has received an "A" rating in the performance assessment by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), and for four consecutive years, it has achieved an "A" rating in the Party building responsibility system assessment of central enterprises.
The board of directors has received excellent evaluations from SASAC for three consecutive years, and it ranked second in the assessment of the “Three-year Action Plan for State-owned Enterprise Reform”.
For five consecutive years, it has been rated as "excellent" in the assessment of targeted assistance work among central units. For four consecutive years, it has been the only comprehensive nuclear industry enterprise among the Fortune Global 500.
Embracing the core values of "responsibility, safety, innovation, and collaboration", the 180,000 employees have propelled CNNC to become a "pioneer in international nuclear technology development", offering safe, green, and clean energy to the world.
【Responsibility】 "Nucleus” of China's National Security
China's nuclear industry was founded in 1955. The pioneering generation of nuclear industry workers devoted themselves to the country and tirelessly developed the first atomic bomb, the first hydrogen bomb, and the first nuclear submarine, collectively known as the "two bombs and one submarine". These remarkable achievements served as the cornerstone of the new China.
In the modern era, the nuclear industry has made significant progress in fortifying its foundation and achieving comprehensive development, enhancing its overall capabilities, and achieving historic breakthroughs in serving the country's strategic interests.
【Safety】"Beautiful Nuclear Power" Benefiting the People
CNNC is committed to the active, safe, and well-organized development of nuclear power. With the largest installed capacity of operating and under-construction nuclear power plants in China and the second-largest globally, the group is at the forefront of nuclear power research, design, engineering construction, and operation.
Leveraging the benefits of nuclear power as a clean energy source, CNNC is promoting the integrated development of nuclear, water, wind, solar and energy storage, and is actively building a new energy system to help China peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060.
Furthermore, CNNC is the leading developer, producer, and supplier of radiopharmaceuticals in China, as well as a top manufacturer and supplier of breath testing drugs. It is also one of the world's top three cobalt suppliers and boasts the most comprehensive product portfolio in the global security inspection industry, utilizing nuclear energy to protect public health.
【Innovation】"Technological Nuclear Power" Driving Innovative Development
CNNC is deeply committed to implementing the "three-step" nuclear energy strategy of "thermal reactors -- fast reactors -- fusion reactors".
It has independently developed advanced nuclear energy technologies such as the third-generation nuclear power "Hualong One", the versatile modular small reactor "Linglong One", the fourth-generation nuclear power high-temperature gas-cooled reactor, the integrated closed-loop fast reactor nuclear energy system, and the controllable nuclear fusion "China Circulation 3".
Continuous breakthroughs in digitalization and intelligent transformation are accelerating, leading the future development of nuclear energy in China.
【Synergy】The "Core” of Win-Win Cooperation
CNNC is involved in implementing the "Belt and Road" initiative and is dedicated to fostering a community with a shared future for mankind.
As the only Chinese enterprise to export its nuclear power technology, CNNC has sent seven nuclear power units, eight research reactors, and subcritical facilities to seven countries.
With limitless nuclear power, CNNC is co-creating the future. At this new starting point, CNNC is committed to deeply studying and implementing the important directives of the Party and state leaders, and vigorously promoting the spirit of the "two bombs and one satellite" and the comprehensive ethos of the China’s nuclear industry.
It will actively embrace the spirit of "strengthening the country with nuclear power and innovating for dedication" to drive the high-quality development of the nuclear industry, and comprehensively develop a robust nuclear industry country, to provide a solid foundation and strategic support for advancing China's modernization and national rejuvenation.
