CNNC President Gu Jun met with Rahimi Farhod, president of the Tajik Academy of Sciences, at CNNC’s headquarters on April 25. The Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation convened the same day.
The two of them discussed jointly building a nuclear research institute in Tajikistan and producing isotopes.
During the meeting, Gu welcomed Farhod’s delegation before briefing them on CNNC’s nuclear industrial chain and nuclear fuel cycle system, as well as the general situation of CNNC.
He said that CNNC attaches great importance to the partnership between the two sides and is willing to help Tajikistan build nuclear industrial systems, conduct nuclear research, and train skilled workers.
Gu expressed his desire for both sides to strengthen nuclear power cooperation and carry out the Belt and Road Initiative.
Farhod said that China and Tajikistan have had a strong relationship since 1992, when Tajikistan declared independence.
He hoped that the Tajik Academy of Sciences would partner with CNNC to build a nuclear research institute and promote the development of nuclear power.
