Liu Junfeng calls for wider cooperation in international development efforts

The second high-level conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development was held in Beijing from July 11 to 13.

Liu Junfeng, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), attended and addressed a sub-forum themed "Multi-sector engagement in international development cooperation – enabling global growth through sustainable partnership".

In his speech, Liu pointed out that, in today's world, the development disparity between the Global North and South keeps widening. There has been a lack of input in international development cooperation, while the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is facing unprecedented barriers to implementation, which raises the urgent need for diverse actors to pool their efforts and jointly promote development. The purpose of the sub-forum was to further build consensus on development cooperation, jointly study the opportunities and challenges, and mobilize more players to participate in the cause of international development, he said.

Noting that development is the key to solving all problems, Liu said cooperation is the only way to promote it, and the participation of multiple actors in international cooperation must be the future. Liu called on all parties to leverage their respective strengths, find innovative means of cooperation, increase resource input, jointly advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, and contribute to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda and the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

Hosted by the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank, the sub-forum attracted more than 300 participants, including representatives of various governments, international organizations, financial institutions, industrial and commercial enterprises, social organizations, foundations, and experts and scholars from home and abroad.
