Noting that Ban has attended the forum for two consecutive years, Luo extended warm welcome to him and lauded his contributions to international development cooperation. The Chinese side upholds openness and pragmatism as well as actively expanding trilateral and multilateral cooperation, and is willing to enhance communication with the Ban Ki-moon Foundation to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Luo said.

Ban extended his appreciation to the CIDCA for the invitation to the event, and said that the China-proposed GDI, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative are well-received by the international community. He raised hopes that China would lead South-South cooperation to help more developing countries realize the 2030 Agenda. The Ban Ki-moon Foundation is about to launch its office in Beijing this year, he added. He expressed a willingness to explore cooperation with the CIDCA in such areas as poverty reduction, green development and youth empowerment, for a better future.
