CIDCA chairman highlights multilateralism at meeting with UN deputy secretary-general

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), stressed the country's commitment to multilateralism at a meeting with Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Amina J Mohammed on June 24.

Luo said that the CIDCA is ready to work with the UN to jointly implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, while also strengthening policy dialogue, the sharing of experience and the promotion of more efficient and practical cooperation.

Luo added that China supports the UN in playing a key and leading role in promoting coordinated and sustainable development, while firmly advocating and practicing true multilateralism.

Mohammed lauded the China-proposed GDI and the country's proactive approach to its implementation. She thanked China for its firm support for the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and said that the UN is willing to deepen cooperation with China on the global body's Six Transitions, actively share China's development ideas and experience and jointly help developing countries cope with emerging challenges.

Vice-chairman of the CIDCA Liu Junfeng, the head of the agency's Global Development Promotion Center Tang Ying, Acting Director General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Li Ming and UN Resident Coordinator in China Siddharth Chaterjee also attended the meeting.
