On May 20, 2024, Vice-Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Zhao Fengtao met with Zou Ciyong, deputy to the director general of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), during which they exchanged views on strengthening cooperation and promoting the development of a demonstration center for trilateral cooperation.
Zhao said that the CIDCA attaches great importance to the development of the demonstration center. Based in Ethiopia and oriented towards the whole of Africa, the center is of great significance for implementing the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, he added. Noting that the CIDCA has a solid foundation for cooperation with the vast majority of African countries, Zhao said that the CIDCA is willing to work together with the UNIDO to leverage their respective strengths and advantages to support Africa in achieving industrialization and agricultural modernization, and cultivate more talents in various fields.
Acknowledging China as one of the most important partners of the UNIDO, Zou said that the UNIDO is willing to work together with the CIDCA to build the demonstration center, help African countries in need improve their level of development, and accelerate the achievement of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
