On May 14, 2024, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui met with Japanese Ambassador to China Kenji Kanasugi.
Luo congratulated Kanasugi on his inauguration to the new post and said that China and Japan are important neighbors to each other. The leaders of the two countries have reaffirmed their commitment to comprehensively advancing the strategic and mutually beneficial relationship between China and Japan, providing crucial political guidance for the development of bilateral relations, Luo noted.
Both China and Japan are important participants in international development cooperation, Luo said, adding that China is willing to continue working with Japan to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, explore trilateral cooperation in such areas as climate change response, the digital economy, and green development within the frameworks of the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in a bid to help developing countries achieve common, equitable, and rapid development, and to inject new momentum into the development of the bilateral relationship. The two sides can also explore the "China-Japan-ROK plus X" cooperation model, Luo added.
Kanasugi lauded the CIDCA's contributions to international development cooperation and said that Japan and China share a common interest in global development. Japan looks forward to engaging in more exchanges and cooperation with China in international development cooperation, and enhancing mutual understanding and mutual learning through policy dialogues, in a bid to improve the effectiveness of international development cooperation, and achieve new results in advancing the strategic and mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries, he added.
Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Zhao Fengtao and Chief Minister of the Embassy of Japan in China Yokochi Akira also attended the meeting.
