On April 27, 2024, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui met with Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha in Kathmandu, with whom he exchanged views on bilateral relations and development assistance cooperation.
Luo said that China and Nepal are traditional friendly neighbors that enjoy a strategic partnership. The bilateral relations have maintained healthy and steady development since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, with closer exchanges conducted at all levels and fruitful results achieved in pragmatic cooperation. China appreciates Nepal's active participation in the Belt and Road cooperation and implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), he said, noting that China is willing to work with Nepal to implement the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, strengthen cooperation in various fields, advance the building of the Trans-Himalayas Multi-dimensional Connectivity Network, and promote further development of their bilateral strategic partnership of cooperation.
Shrestha said that Nepal and China have always trusted and supported each other. The new government of Nepal attaches great importance to its relations with China, and is ready to work closely with China to continuously elevate bilateral relations, he said. Nepal stands firmly by the one-China principle and resolutely opposes any anti-China activities in Nepal, he added.
He lauded China's rapid development in the past decade, and expressed willingness to learn from China's experience in its path to modernization in order to develop the economy and improve the people's livelihoods in his own country, strengthen Belt and Road cooperation with China and jointly implement the GDI.
