CIDCA chairman meets with Pakistan’s army chief

On April 22, 2024, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui met with Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan Asim Munir in Islamabad.

Luo said that in face of global turmoil unseen in a century, the strategic significance of the China-Pakistan friendship and all-dimensional cooperation has become more prominent. He acknowledged the Pakistani military's efforts in promoting the development of the bilateral ties, and safeguarding the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan. He said the Pakistani military should continue to play its role and take all effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and enterprises in Pakistan.

China is willing to carry out pragmatic cooperation with Pakistan under the frameworks of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the Global Development Initiative (GDI), advance cooperation in such areas as infrastructure, healthcare, post-disaster reconstruction, agriculture and human resources development by means of foreign assistance and international development cooperation, and share state governance experiences to benefit the two countries and their people, he said.

Munir spoke highly of China's assistance to Pakistan for the country's socioeconomic stability and development. He reaffirmed the solid friendship between the two countries and said that the Pakistani military is duty-bound to protect the safety of the Chinese brothers in Pakistan regardless of cost. The Pakistani military will firmly support the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the GDI, and safeguard the development of the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic partnership, he added.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, along with other CIDCA officials and officials from the Pakistani military, also attended the meeting.
