The opening ceremony of a China-aided training program on Chinese language and culture for Honduran officials was held on April 11, 2024.
Designed and initiated by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), and jointly undertaken by the Academy for International Business Officials under China's Ministry of Commerce and Beijing International Chinese College, the program is the first bilateral cooperation project on human resource development hosted by the Chinese government specifically for the Honduran side, and is one of China's key foreign assistance training programs of 2024. A total of 23 intermediate and senior level Honduran officials from 11 government departments, including Honduran parliament, foreign ministry and supreme court, took part in the training.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Li Ming, deputy director-general of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation, said that human resource development cooperation is an important measure to implement the concept of people-centered development and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
It is also a distinguished hallmark of China's foreign aid embodying the principle of "teaching people to fish", Li said, noting that China attaches great importance to cooperation in this field and has cultivated about 500,000 governance talents and technical personnel for over 180 countries and regions over the past 70 years.
He raised his hope that all trainees will cherish the opportunity, get to know China and become scholars of Chinese culture; understand China and become wise decision-makers in state governance; and fall in love with China and become ambassadors of friendship between China and Honduras. The CIDCA will continue to offer services through its various channels, he added.
Honduran diplomats and officials attending the training program spoke highly of Honduras-China relations and thanked China for its support and assistance in human resources development, expressing their admiration for China's long and splendid history and culture, as well as its achievements in the new era.
They said they will transform what they learn in China into wisdom and strength to build their own country, and bring more benefits to both countries and peoples.
Lei Hao, deputy head of the Academy for International Business Officials, and Gui Fan, head of Beijing International Chinese College, also addressed the event.
In 2024, as part of its efforts to actively implement the Global Development Initiative and share the experience gained in Chinese modernization, the CIDCA has planned more than 1,600 human resources development cooperation projects, covering more than 20 fields and over 100 professions, including public administration, animal husbandry and fishery, transportation and logistics, ecological protection and environmental governance. The projects are expected to play a key role in promoting the common development of the Global South and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
