On April 4, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui paid an official call to Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Cuban president, in Havana.
Diaz-Canel briefed Luo on the present political and economic situation in Cuba. Noting that China and Cuba are good friends, good comrades and good brothers, he appreciated the long-standing support from the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government and people to Cuba. He said, especially now, as Cuba faces difficulties, China's emergency assistance fully demonstrates the significance of the special bilateral relations. Cuba will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China principle, learn from China's experience in state governance, carry out Belt and Road cooperation and promote the implementation of the three China-proposed initiatives of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative to a high standard, and strive to elevate the bilateral relations to a higher level, he said.
Luo said that under the strategic guidance of the two countries' leaders, the special China-Cuba relations continue to develop. China shares in the joy when Cuba achieves economic progress and feels the strain when Cuba is in a temporary predicament. China appreciates Cuba's firm support concerning China's core issues, including the Taiwan question, and is ready to work with Cuba to jointly implement the consensus reached between the two countries' leaders, deepen relations between the two parties and two countries and promote the building of a China-Cuba community with a shared future to a higher level, he added.
Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ricardo Cabrisas, Chinese Ambassador to Cuba Ma Hui and Huang Yan, a member of the Leading Party Members Group of China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, also attended the meeting.
