China, EU hold seminar on statistical management of foreign assistance

On March 25, 2024, the China-European Union (EU) Seminar on the Statistical Management of Foreign Assistance was held in Beijing both online and offline. Tian Lin, director-general of the Department of Supervision and Evaluation of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), and Jorge Toledo Albiñana, ambassador of the EU to China, attended and addressed the event.

Participants held in-depth exchanges on such topics as the policy framework and management structure of foreign assistance statistics, data collection principles and coordination, and assistance statistics digitization and related digital products. Both Chinese and EU sides agreed that the seminar is conducive to promoting mutual understanding in foreign assistance statistics management, and expressed willingness to continue exchanges and cooperation in this regard.

Representatives from the CIDCA's Department of Supervision and Evaluation and Foreign Assistance Service Center, the Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Commission, the EU Mission in China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, as well as experts from think tanks such as the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under China's Ministry of Commerce and the Center for International  Knowledge on Development, attended the meeting.
