CIDCA chairman meets with minister of trade and tourism of Djibouti

On Dec 9, 2023, Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Minister of Trade and Tourism of Djibouti Mohamed Warsama Dirieh on the sidelines of the second China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation, which was held in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.

Luo said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the China-Djibouti comprehensive strategic partnership has maintained steady development, yielding positive results in development cooperation in various areas, such as infrastructure, medical healthcare, education, and human resource development. China is willing work with Djibouti to enhance the strategic alignment, deepen pragmatic cooperation, carry out high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), promote the continuous development of bilateral relations and set a good example of solidarity and cooperation, he added.

Dirieh congratulated the successful hosting of the forum and said that China's rapid economic growth has offered opportunities for the world. He lauded China's efforts and contributions in promoting the common development of all countries, and pledged support to and participation in the China-proposed GDI, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative. Bearing special geographic advantages, he said, Djibouti is willing to work closely with China and learn from China's advanced development experience in areas including ports and tourism to boost its own development.

The two sides also held in-depth exchanges on specific cooperative matters. Director-General of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs Bai Bin also attended the meeting.
