CIDCA spokesperson: CIDCA to host 2nd China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Cooperation

The second China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Cooperation will be held in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province, from Dec 7 to 8, said Xu Wei, spokesperson of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), on Dec 4.

The event, jointly hosted by the CIDCA and the Yunnan provincial government, will see the attendance of around 300 Chinese and foreign guests from over 20 countries and international organizations. It is a major action by countries in the China-Indian Ocean region to jointly promote the implementation of the China-proposed Global Development Initiative, the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-30).

Themed on promoting the sustainable development of the blue economy and the joint building of a maritime community with a shared future, the forum will focus on assistance cooperation in the development of the blue economy, a topic of common interest of countries in the region. Four parallel sub-forums will be held on cooperation in the blue economy, cooperation in maritime disaster prevention and reduction, biodiversity and maritime ecology protection, and the sustainable development of island countries of the Indian Ocean.
