The successful launch of this project bears special significance and blessings as it is the first China-based training program tailored for Bhutan by the Chinese government. China is willing to continue to provide assistance within its capabilities under the framework of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), with a focus on human resources development and cooperation in such fields as state governance, healthcare, tourism and commerce, in a bid to support Bhutan's recovery and growth in various sectors.

Meng Ran, deputy director-general of the Department of International Cooperation of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, made the remarks at the opening of the training session.

On behalf of the trainees, an official from Bhutan's Ministry of Health, expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for holding this program. He lauded China's mature experience and practices in traditional medicine and expressed the expectation of systematically learning traditional Chinese medicine knowledge and practical skills, as well as deepening exchanges and cooperation with their Chinese counterparts.

After the ceremony, Meng met with representatives of the trainees, briefing them on China's philosophy and practices of foreign aid and international development cooperation, as well as the significance and progress of the China-proposed GDI.
