CIDCA| Updated: 2023-10-23

A seminar on agricultural products and food safety management under the Global Development Initiative framework opened at the China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries in Beijing on Oct 20.

Li Yi, deputy director-general of the Department of International Cooperation of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), addressed the opening ceremony, which was attended by 30 officials and technicians from 11 countries, including Mozambique, Fiji, Malta, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Li congratulated the seminar, which was hosted by the Chinese government, on its opening, saying that China has provided more funding and experts, and undertaken more projects than any other developing country under the framework of the South-South Cooperation Program facilitated by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization.

China is willing to work with countries worldwide to strengthen practical cooperation in grain security, promote international exchanges and mutual learning on agricultural products and food safety, and accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, he added.

On behalf of the trainees, a journalist from Mozambique expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for offering such a "valuable opportunity", and lauded China’s experience and practices in agricultural products and food safety. He said that he hopes to learn more knowledge and skills in the program, and looks forward to further exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side in the future.
