Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Cuban Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz on Oct 19, 2023.
Luo noted that the meeting between the two heads of state in November last year yielded importance consensus and set the direction for deepening the special friendship between the two countries in the new era. China is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with Cuba, actively explore cooperation under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative, and strive for more results in their bilateral cooperation, he said.
Cabrisas extended his appreciation to China for its long-term support to Cuba's socioeconomic development, especially the timely and effective assistance against the COVID-19 pandemic. Cuba is ready to strengthen cooperation with China, jointly implement the consensus reached between the two heads of state and actively carry out cooperation in such fields as power supply, renewable energy and communications, he said.
The two sides also held in-depth exchanges on specific cooperation matters. Cuban Minister of Communications Mayra Arevich Marín, Cuban Ambassador to China Alberto Blanco Silva, Director-General of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs Bai Bin, and Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei also attended the meeting.
