Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with visiting Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi on May 24, 2023.
Luo extended a warm welcome to Grossi on his visit and acknowledged the IAEA's efforts and contribution in preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons and promoting the peaceful utilization of nuclear energy. He said that China is willing to strengthen policy, practice and personnel exchanges with the IAEA and explore trilateral cooperation in food security, health, the safe use of nuclear energy and water treatment in Asia and Africa, in a bid to jointly implement the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Grossi said that the IAEA lauds China's contributions in the South-South cooperation, especially in the safe use of nuclear energy. The IAEA is willing to strengthen dialogue with the CIDCA, fully leverage their respective advantages, deepen pragmatic cooperation and jointly contribute to the improvement of people's livelihoods in developing countries and to the realization of the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei and Deputy Director General of the IAEA Liu Hua also attended the meeting.
