Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), had an official meeting with Ambassador of the United Kingdom to China Caroline Wilson and Adnan Khan, chief economist of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK, on May 18, 2023. Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei and Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of Supervision and Evaluation Tian Lin also attended the meeting.
Luo noted that the UK is a major player in international development cooperation, and the CIDCA has carried out positive communication with the UK since its establishment. China is ready to carry on policy dialogue with the UK, strengthen theoretical and practical exchanges in international development cooperation, explore trilateral cooperation in in Asia and Africa, and jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, he said.
Wilson and Khan noted that the UK and China share common concerns on global development and cooperation. The UK is looking forward to more exchanges and cooperation with China in this field, strengthening experience sharing in such areas as capacity building and supervision and evaluation, and exploring trilateral cooperation in a bid to improve the efficacy of international development cooperation.
The two sides held in-depth exchanges on their respective theories and practices of global development cooperation.
