Zhong Haidong, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Nestor Ghiro, minister of fisheries and marine resources of the Solomon Islands on May 17, 2023.
Zhong noted that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the political mutual trust between the two countries has continuously deepened, and pragmatic cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. China is ready to work with the Solomon Islands to jointly implement the key consensus reached between the two heads of state, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative in order to benefit the people of both countries, he added.
Ghiro said that China is his country's most trusted partner and extended his appreciation to China for its support and assistance in socioeconomic development and improving people's livelihoods in the country. The Solomon Islands is looking forward to learning from China's development experiences and advanced technologies, he said, while extending an invitation to Chinese enterprises to invest in their country and expand cooperation in the fishery industry.
The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation projects. Bai Bin, director-general of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs, also attended the meeting.
