The Senate of the Dominican Republic recently held a commendation ceremony to honor China for helping the Caribbean nation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Santiago Zorrilla, vice-president of the senate, conferred a certificate of honor on Chinese Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Zhang Run at the ceremony.
Zorrilla thanked the Chinese side for its vaccines and other anti-pandemic supplies, adding that his country will always remember China's timely assistance in its darkest hour.
In his speech, Zhang said the commendation ceremony demonstrates the affirmation of the people and political parties of the Dominican Republic on anti-pandemic cooperation and the consensus on deepening the friendly cooperation between the two countries.
All walks of life in the Dominican Republic adhere to spirit of science, promoted vaccination of Chinese vaccines, safeguarding the fruits of vaccine cooperation between the two sides with practical actions, Zhang noted.
Their cooperation on vaccines is also an important epitome of the fruitful results of bilateral cooperation, Zhang said, adding that their relations will move forward to benefit the two countries and peoples.
Since the outbreak of COVIF-19, the Chinese side has helped the Caribbean country purchase vaccines from China and donated anti-pandemic supplies, including vaccines and ventilators, masks, and thermal imaging devices. They also held online meetings to share anti-pandemic experience.
