CIDCA vice-chairman meets with UNHCR representative in China

Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Vanno Noupech, the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR)'s representative in China, on Jan 10, 2023.  

Zhao said that China has been proactive in global humanitarian affairs, to which it attaches great importance. Since its establishment, the CIDCA's pragmatic cooperation with the UNHCR has yielded positive results. He pledged to work together with the UNHCR in jointly implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and strengthening pragmatic cooperation to help other developing countries tackle humanitarian challenges and enhance development in a bid to contribute to the realization of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Noupech expressed his appreciation for China's support for the political and financial aspects of the UNHCR's work and pledged to actively participate in the GDI implementation. He also raised hopes of further bilateral cooperation in providing emergency humanitarian and long-term development assistance to refugees and displaced people in the countries concerned so as to help them achieve the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
