He also handed over the vaccines donated under the initiative of Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, for the women, children and  teenagers of Zimbabwe to Auxillia Mnangagwa,  Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa's wife.

Guo said that China and Zimbabwe are good friends, brothers and partners with a shared future. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, China has always been the most reliable supporter of Zimbabwe and has generously donated anti-pandemic supplies, including vaccines, protective suits and ventilators, to Zimbabwe. To further support Zimbabwe's fight against the virus, the Chinese government donated more vaccines this time, which fully reflects the connotation of the China-Zimbabwe comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Moreover, under  Peng's initiative, China donated vaccines to the women, children and teenagers in Zimbabwe via the first lady of Zimbabwe, which reflects Peng's care for the people of Zimbabwe, as well as the traditional friendship between the people of both countries.

Auxillia extended appreciation to Peng for her initiative of vaccine donation, noting it demonstrated the profound friendship between the two countries and their resolution to jointly combat COVID-19. She said that the COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the economic development and people’s life security in all countries. China has been donating anti-pandemic supplies and vaccines to other developing countries including Zimbabwe, which has played a key role in their fight against the virus. Noting that vaccines are the most effective weapon against the virus, she said that Zimbabwe appreciates China for its firm actions of delivering on the solemn promises made by President Xi at the 73rd General Assembly of the World Health Organization and the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity Against COVID-19, and for making Chinese vaccines a global public good that has greatly enhanced the accessibility and affordability of vaccines of developing countries.
