Noting that climate change is a common challenge faced by all of humanity, Tian said that Chinese and African people share the same desire for a beautiful environment and life. At the eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation last November, China proposed green development as one of the four areas in building a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era. Under the frameworks of South-South cooperation and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, China and Africa have jointly promoted green, low-carbon, recyclable and sustainable development and carried out proactive cooperation and exchanges in the field of green energy, which have yielded fruitful achievements.

According to Tian, China has implemented dozens of green energy development assistance projects in African countries, covering environmental protection planning, building solar photovoltaic power stations and demonstration villages, and holding seminars and training programs on climate change and environmental protection, which have benefited thousands of people.

China proposed the Global Development Initiative and has upgraded the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund to the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund (GDSSCF), increasing its funding. China has started building a project pool for global development and will launch an action plan for shared development between China and Africa, as well as continue efforts for the development of green energy in Africa, he added.

In terms of trilateral cooperation among China, Europe and Africa, Tian said that green energy development could be a key cooperation area. He suggested strengthening policy communication and proactively exploring pilot projects based on multilateralism, the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities", and the principle of "proposed by Africa, agreed by Africa and led by Africa".

Themed on building a China-Europe-Africa green energy development community in response to the challenges posed by climate change, the forum was jointly organized by the China-EU Association and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Over 100 representatives, including Chinese and foreign diplomats and officials, attended the forum.
