CIDCA vice-chairman meets with adviser to Nicaraguan president

Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Laureano Ortega Murillo, adviser to the Nicaraguan president, via video link, to exchange views on further promoting the two countries' development cooperation.

Zhao said that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua more than eight months ago, their bilateral friendly relations have continued deepening, with development cooperation rapidly promoted and key cooperation projects making substantial progress.

China highly appreciates Nicaragua's participation in Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), said Zhao, adding that China is willing to work with Nicaragua to further strengthen cooperation, jointly implement the GDI, and contribute to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Laureano expressed his heartfelt gratitude to China for its selfless assistance in helping his country in fighting against COVID-19, promoting economic development, enhancing people's livelihoods and improving capacity building.

Nicaragua fully agrees with the GDI and other cooperation initiatives proposed by China, and is willing to strengthen its practical cooperation with China to advance the implementation of development cooperation projects in various fields.

During the meeting, Zhao and Ivan Acosta, Nicaragua's minister of finance, signed an agreement on the first phase of the China-aided affordable housing project in Nicaragua.
