The two sides signed a handover certificate.

Akogbeto said that getting rid of the pandemic is a key factor for Benin's economic recovery, and vaccines are the most powerful weapon to overcome it. China has been not only the first country to provide vaccine aid to Benin, but also taken practical action continuously to fulfill its responsibilities and role as a major country.

He said that China has accompanied Benin to fight COVID-19, improved medical and health conditions, and made important contributions to the health and welfare of Benin’s people, and is a good partner and brother of Benin.

The government and people of Benin will definitely make good use of the vaccines donated by China and repay China's generosity with practical action, said Akogbeto.

Yan said the new shipment of COVID-19 vaccines demonstrates China’s commitment, and is also a true reflection of the brotherhood between China and Benin.

The friendship between China and Benin remain unshakable and become even firmer as time goes by, and their cooperation in various fields has been fruitful, said Yan, adding that in the future, the two countries will continue to write new chapters along the road of high-quality development of bilateral relations, work together to pursue the Chinese dream and the Benin dream, and build a China-Benin community with a shared future.
