Celebrating 100th anniversary of CPC | Entrepreneurial story of Ugandan trainee lauded by Ugandan president

CIDCA| Updated: 2022-02-24

David Mulika from Uganda attended a training program on aquaculture for Africa in 2007 and another training program of the same subject for developing countries in 2010, both under the foreign aid human resources development and cooperation project hosted by the Chinese government.

Later he was back to China a few times to further learn aquaculture. What he had learnt in China laid a solid foundation for his career. He founded Green Fish of Uganda, a company specializing in tilapia breeding and feed processing, back in Uganda.

Green Fish is now a well-known aquaculture company in Uganda. As a rising star among local entrepreneurs, Mulika helped local farmers get rid of poverty and become rich by sharing Chinese aquaculture technology with them.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and the Minister of Agriculture spoke highly of the achievements of Mulika's company during a research tour to the company.

He was much indebted to the Chinese government and people, Mulika said emotionally. Without the technology and experiences he gained from China, his company would not have become what it is today. He also pledged to teach more Ugandan farmers Chinese technologies so they can share the benefits as well.
