Deng said that China and Nepal, connected by mountains and rivers, are good neighbors and partners.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to the COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal and actively implements the assistance measures announced by China’s State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Video Conference of Foreign Ministers of China, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka on COVID-19, which include donating emergency anti-pandemic supplies to Nepal, said Deng. The first such donations were officially delivered today.

Deng said that the virus knows no country and cooperation is the only way. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, China, guided by the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, has provided assistance within its capacity to over 150 countries and international organizations, and carried out the largest emergency humanitarian assistance since the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Recently, South Asia has seen a concentrated outbreak. Despite its own difficulties, China decided to provide urgently needed anti-pandemic supplies such as oxygen cylinders, ventilators, vaccines and cash assistance to Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India, hoping to play a positive role in South Asian countries' fight against the pandemic.

Pandey said that the friendship between China and Nepal is higher than mountains and deeper than the sea. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Nepal, the Chinese government has extended a helping hand on many occasions and provided Nepal with a large amount of urgently needed anti-epidemic materials.

The Nepalese government and people sincerely thank the Chinese government and people for their urgent assistance. Nepal is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China so that they can help each other to overcome difficulties and fight the pandemic together.

During the ceremony, China and Nepal signed a certificate of delivery of the materials.
