China-donated COVID-19 vaccines arrive in Myanmar

CIDCA| Updated: 2021-05-08

A total of 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine donated by the Chinese government arrived at the Yangon International Airport in Myanmar on May 2.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Myanmar have carried out effective collaboration in COVID-19 prevention and control. China has provided Myanmar with a large amount of anti-virus supplies, and has sent several medical expert teams to assist Myanmar in combating the pandemic.

This vaccine aid, promised by China earlier this year, was delivered to Myanmar at a critical stage in its fight against COVID-19. The donation embodies the "Paukphaw" (fraternal) friendship between the two countries and the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

China hopes that the donated vaccine will play a role in protecting the lives and health of the people of Myanmar and helping Myanmar overcome the pandemic.
